PETA • Joanna Krupa

For actress/model Joanna Krupa, Mia designed a spectacular pair of angel wings. The wings were constructed with hundreds of tiny, handmade pieces using synthetic fabrics and trims. They took two days for a crew of five to complete. On the day of the photo shoot, Joanna brought her two small dogs along. At the last minute, working quickly on the set, Mia & assistant Caesareo made a tiny pair of matching wings for one of the dogs. The "angel dog" was incorporated into the photo shoot! Joanna looked amazing in the costume. It is a beautiful combination of texture and form.

Medea • Annette Bening

For a recent production of Medea, starring Annette Bening at UCLA, MGC worked with costume designer Bjanka Adzic Ursulov to produce costumes for Ms. Bening and the chorus. The costumes for Annette Bening are inspired from classic 19th century fashion. This is juxtaposed with the chorus who wear postmodern clothing mixed with vintage style.

Discovery Channel • The Colony

For the Discovery Channel's TV show The Colony, Mia was tasked to design for an “end of days” concept. She created an eclectic blend of purchased clothing, both new and used, utilizing her in-depth knowledge of distressing techniques. This created an interesting mix of textures that resulted in a disaster stricken look.

Universal Studios Singapore • WaterWorld

With the opening of Universal Studios Singapore in December 2009, the talented crew at MGC is busy constructing costumes for the live, stunt filled spectacular, WaterWorld. Based on the movie, this show combines thrilling stunts and pyrotechnics for an exciting audience experience. The demands of a live action, water stunt show require costumes built with safety and durability. At the same time the story requires that costumes look old, pieced together, and gathered from the sea. Mia and her crew do an incredible job of combining all these elements, while still retaining the original look of the film.

Peta • Cloris Leachman

When Peta called to design a look for Cloris Leachman, Mia used her creativity to come up with something totally unique. After testing numerous types of vegetables, Mia & her crew created a gown made of purple cabbage and kale on the morning of the photo shoot. Cloris looked stunning, and the LA Times commented “Surprisingly stylish looking for a dress made primarily
out of red cabbage."
